Technical Inspection

Tech Inspection for "Beat the Bastard" is based upon the IGSA Rulebook, which covers Technical as well as all safety issues.

Leathers, leather gloves, brake shoes and helmets need to be presented in accordance with the Rulebook, ie, all tears and seams to be securely stitched, full fingered leather gloves, secure brake shoes, lace-up preferred and full-faced helmets/visors in good condition, ie, no deep scratches.

For helmets which don't have a visor, goggles or polycarbonate framed glasses ONLY are acceptable.
All vehicles being used during this freeride on Mt Stuart must go through Tech Inspection. Specifications on weights, length of vehicle etc can be found in the IGSA Rulebook [935kb]. Any vehicle in any discipline which doesn't meet specifications will not be able to participate.

Safety is of the greatest importance to the "BtB" Organisers as well as ASRA, and we want everyone to enjoy the ride and be able to go home at the end of the weekend. This year, I'll be checking riders safety gear and equipment after every heavy fall, to make sure the rider remains safe. Helmets in particular will be scrutinised and any helmet which is severely damaged will be removed from the hill.

Tech Inspection will take place at Ado's shop, Cre8ive Sk8, in Aitkenvale, Townsville on Friday 14th, starting from 10:00am till 6:00pm, with a riders meeting from 6:00 to 7:00pm.

Some riders won't be arriving in Townsville until late Friday night, so I will make myself available for a second Tech Inspection in the carpark at the bottom of Mt Stuart from 6:30am to 7:30am on Saturday morning.

Any riders and equipment who haven't passed Tech at this time will not be able to participate in the weekend riding. Tech will also cover all boards being ridden at Sunday's Conehead Cup event. Those of you who missed last year and are doing the Conehead, this is one of the hardest, gnarliest courses ever set and most competitors rode their DH setups for the event. Talk to other riders who raced last year for advice.

Andy "Sakamoto" Smith. "BtB"2010 Technical Inspector
